Lots of preparation gives the illusion...
Quentin Blake has become one of the most famous illustrators of the late 20th century. Though primarily known for his work on children's books by both himself and Roald Dahl he has also illustrated many adults books and magazines. He also became the first Children's Laureate in 1999. His images, produced with a mixture of waterproof inks and watercolour paints, are well structured and designed but the smaller elements of it are drawn so quickly that the lines take on an almost mischievous quality. In terms of the watercolours they are themselves not confined to the lines, but used as more of a wash which creates blocks of colour rather than using much shading or detail.

I am going to draw the 3D model of the watch in the style of Quentin Blake. This will free me from the need to rely heavily on accuracy but instead focus on the shapes of the watch.
