The images below show the final model I produced of the interior. They were
photographed with the Sony P52 digital camera. The model is constructed from
paper, foam board, plastic, card and wire.
In my opinion the construction of the model is of a high quality. I have at all
times used sharp, high quality tools in its construction, and all relevant sections
were measured before assembly. I used a computer to produce the text on the walls
of the room, this insured that the text was professional and accurate to my first
renders. I have made some changes since my CAD pre-viz however. The bed panel has been raised
so that it works better as a multifunctional product later on, and the red pillars
at the end of the room opposite the door have been removed so as to give the occupant
more room. I have also, due to the small scale of the model, been unable to light
the arrow in the floor, although in reality the room would possess this feature.
I have uploaded a short, and very low quality, video of the interior to the site.
It is essentially designed to give you an idea of what the model looks like in three
dimensions. It is available to download as an
MPEG Video(423kb) .
I am pleased with my final design, and think it fits well with my brief and specifications for the interior.
It's primarily white colour gives the relaxing feeling I want, whilst the red colour
stops it from feeling sterile and uncomfortable. I like the inclusion of text as it helps to discern
function as well as working well as a graphic that adds much needed detail to a largely minimalist
room. The bags are, in my opinion, the major flaw of the room. They are a great way of providing storage,
but are too small when compared to a scale model of a person to function as a way of storing clothes. This
could perhaps be overcome through the inclusion of wardrobe space in the multifunctional product I will design
to fit into the expanding panel on the wall of the room. Designing this product will be the next step, and will
comprise the second half of the project.
I am pleased with this interior design, and look forward to designing the product for it.
