Here I have extended my initial ideas into actual working sketches. The first is the slide out bed; I have shown how the bed could slide out the wall with a swing down leg that provides support when there is someone in it. Small hooks then slide out the sides of the panels and become the sides of the bed. This design is promising, and I will develop it through the use of card scale models and CAD.
The second design I have extended is that of the folding bed. I think this may be more successful because integration of a computer will be more intuitive and convenient for the user. With this design CAD and scale models will be of even more use, as experimentation will lead to far more successful and stable production. I will be able to test out complex folds that would be difficult to visualize just using sketches.
