This model is the first of my card developments for the structure of the folding bed. I have essentially made a real world version of my CAD model. I have attached a leg which works in a similar way to a pop-up card. It unfolds as the bed itself comes apart. There is also a fold out leg attached to the end of the bed, which would fold down and help support. This design would be unstable though, as the leg on the end is likely to slip, as it is not secured in any way.
This design is clumsy, and does not embody the effortless simplicity which I planned the multifunctional bed to convey. I will extend this design so that I can create a more simplified form with a more intuitive approach to the problem of supporting the bed.
