Colour would be important to the design, as this piece of furniture will be the centrepiece of the room. In my mood boards I looked at reds, blues, whites and wood textures. I think that a combination of wood textures and reds would be perfect for the bed, and would make it fit well with the existing colour scheme of my interior design.
Wood would be a good material to produce the final bed from, as it is both a strong material for production and a fitting texture for the room. In the past wood has been the most popular choice for materials used in bed manufacture for exactly these reasons. My scale model would be made from foam board in order to easily produce the hinges and shapes needed. I will use printed out sheets of paper to apply a wood grain effect.
