After creating my isometric projections of the bed I could visualize my final piece, but still needed to create a version in three dimensions so as to test whether it would actually work, and also to explore how the bed would work within the interior I designed in the first part of the project. Creating a real world model would be time consuming, and would not give accurate enough dimensions to produce my final model from. I therefore decided to use CAD.
These images show the digital version of my final design from many angles in different stages of use. The model itself is practically identical to the isometric projections I did earlier, although I have added the details of the screen and keyboard. The red highlights work well, especially when combined with the wood texture on the plastic bed panels. I have changed the way the bed attaches to the wall, as on reflection the idea of having the bed slide back into the wall uses up more space than is necessary, and according to the project brief space is a very important concern. I have therefore designed a very simple system by which the bed folds down in front of the wall instead. This uses less space, and also makes its use far more convenient.
I will now produce my final model to show my design in the real world.
